Svanehøj wins fuel pump order for 15 LNG dual-fuel container vessels

Orders for dual-fuel LNG vessels broke all data in 2021 with a total of 240 ships globally. That is greater than the previous 4 years mixed. And progress seems set to proceed unabated in 2022.
According to knowledge from classification society DNV, orders for fifty six dual-fuel LNG vessels have been positioned in January and February.This change in demand has created quite a buzz at Svanehøj. The Danish marine pump specialist quadrupled gross sales of its patented deepwell gasoline pumps in 2021, and there are many indications that sales could enhance even further in 2022.
Svanehøj has just secured an order for gas pump techniques for 15 dual-fuel LNG container vessels (7,000 TEU), that are to be built at Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding. The whole of 30 deepwell gas pumps might be delivered from August 2022 to January 2024. The order is amongst Svanehøj’s largest referring to LNG fuel to date. It is the second time within the final year that this customer has chosen Svanehøj as the provider of LNG fuel pump systems. In July 2021, they signed a contract for deepwell pumps for 10 dual-fuel LNG container vessels (15,000 TEU).
“Until a couple of years in the past, the usage of LNG as a marine fuel was restricted to LNG carriers and smaller ships. But we are now seeing a sharp enhance in fuel pump orders for deep sea vessels corresponding to container ships and automobile carriers. We had been chosen as the supplier of gasoline pump methods for over 50% of the dual-fuel LNG container vessels ordered globally in 2020-21. Large investment in lean manufacturing and new tools

To help the green transition of the maritime trade, Svanehøj is at present investing greater than DKK 10 million in upgrading its manufacturing services in Denmark. A new manufacturing unit layout with manufacturing cells and robotics will assist Svanehøj’s ambitious development strategy and cut back lead occasions for all products.
“We have made a strategic determination to implement lean manufacturing. By rethinking our processes, we expect to increase productivity and capacity by up to 50%,” says Mikkel Bülow Bundgaard Sørensen, Lean Specialist, Svanehøj.
Svanehøj has entered 2022 with a new strategy and a goal of doubling its turnover to DKK 1 billion ($152 million) by the end of 2026. In addition to gasoline pumps for LNG, LPG, and carbon-neutral fuels, Svanehøj sees nice potential in growing pump options for the infrastructure to be built round Power-to-X and carbon capture and storage (CCS).
